The Versatile Beauceron
Solder Soliere du Canis Dirus - click for full size

Starting January 1, 2001, the American Kennel Club (AKC) began offering a special recognition for dogs that excelled in multiple events. The Versatile Companion Dog (VCD) title was created to encourage owners to expand their dogs’ abilities in obedience, agility, and tracking. A dog must earn titles in all three events to earn a VCD. There are four different levels of the VCD depending on the dogs' accomplishments in the three events.

A dog must earn Novice level titles in obedience (CD) and agility (NA & NAJ), and earn a Tracking Dog (TD) title to earn a VCD1. A dog must earn Open level titles in obedience (CDX) and agility (OA & OAJ) and earn a Tracking Dog (TD) title to earn a VCD2. A dog must earn Advanced level titles in obedience (UD) and agility (AX & AXJ) and earn a Tracking Dog Excellent (TDX) title to earn a VCD3

On March 1, 2003 Beauceron history was made. Solder Soliere du Canis Dirus aka Soliere became the very first Beauceron to earn a VCD. Not only did he earn a VCD1, but he earned a VCD2 as well!

What makes this an even more incredible accomplishment is Soliere did it all before turning two years old! Soliere is owned, trained, and handled by Christina Yohe. You can read more about Soliere and Christina on the agility, obedience, and tracking pages.
